Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has a reason to celebrate tonight. Ultimately after years and years of hard work put up on the celluloid, the star will be conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution towards Indian cinema. I&B Minister of India Prakash Javadekar took to his official Twitter handle to announce this big news, letting the actor’s fans elated with joy and happiness. The actor has been entertaining the audience for over 45 years with his marvelous performances on-screen.

Last year's, in 2018, late actor Vinod Khanna was conferred with this highest cinematic award. Announcing this year's recipient, Javadekar tweeted, "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him." This tweet called for innumerable fans of the actor and people from the film fraternity congratulating the actor. Actors such as Anil Kapoor, Nagarjuna, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and many more congratulated the actor and thanked him for inspiring them for so many years. Son Abhishek Bachchan called himself a #proudson! 





















Amitabh Bachchan will soon be seen in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, followed by Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. Currently, he is entertaining the audience with his quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati which is in its 11th season in 2019.

The actor was also conferred with prestigious awards by the government of India such as Padma Shri in 1984, Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
